Derma filler dissolving

Artboard 1_8x-8.png

Dermal filler dissolving is a treatment used to safely break down and remove unwanted hyaluronic acid dermal filler using an enzyme called hyaluronidase. This treatment may be carried out for a variety of reasons including migration, unevenness, overfilled appearance, complications, dissatisfaction with previous filler treatments, or to allow for a fresh and more balanced treatment approach.

Hyaluronidase works by breaking down hyaluronic acid filler naturally within the body, allowing the filler to dissolve and gradually be absorbed. The treatment can be used to partially or fully dissolve filler depending on the individual concern and desired outcome.

Common areas treated include the lips, cheeks, chin, jawline, tear troughs, and other areas previously treated with hyaluronic acid filler. Dermal filler dissolving is particularly popular for correcting migrated lip filler, restoring natural lip shape, or managing areas where filler may appear uneven or heavy.

Results can begin quickly following treatment, with many clients noticing changes within 24–48 hours, although full settling may take up to 2 weeks depending on the amount of filler present, swelling, and individual healing response. In some cases, more than one dissolving session may be required to achieve the desired result.

Following dissolving treatment, clients may choose to leave the area natural or return for re-treatment with dermal filler once the tissues have fully healed and settled. A personalised treatment plan will always be discussed during consultation.

As with any aesthetic procedure, safety and assessment are extremely important. A patch test may be recommended prior to treatment due to the small risk of allergic reaction to hyaluronidase. During consultation, a detailed medical history and assessment will be completed to ensure suitability and discuss risks, benefits, and realistic expectations.
